GM review and playtest circle

Borrowed Sky

Run tense near-future operations where covers fray, alarms matter, and every clean exit has a cost.

Borrowed Sky is a 5E-compatible science-fiction tabletop project built for crews operating under pressure. The GM Circle is a small review and playtest group for people who want to read drafts, run tables, and help sharpen the game before wider release.

Playtest Brief

The Pitch

You are not saving the galaxy. You are taking the job and deciding which truth survives.

Borrowed Sky focuses on grounded sci-fi missions, identity pressure, human variance, fragile access, and competent teams making hard calls in public systems that were never built for mercy.

The first playtest centers on Cold Transfer, a starter operation at Tetherfall where a clinic extraction becomes a lockdown, a cover story becomes evidence, and the crew has to choose what kind of damage they can live with.

Table Profile

Good Fit For GMs Who Like

  • Mission play with social, technical, and physical routes.
  • Near-future science fiction with human-scale stakes.
  • 5E familiarity, tuned toward operations instead of dungeon loops.
  • Player choices that create heat and consequence.
  • Draft material that needs direct, practical table feedback.

How It Works

What The GM Circle Does

01

Read short draft drops and flag unclear rules, missing GM support, and weak table procedures.

02

Run or observe playtest sessions using provided quickstarts, pregens, and mission material.

03

Report what players actually did, where pressure landed, and what slowed the session down.

04

Help prioritize what needs to become sturdier before the next public-facing release.
